kootu Chow Chow Masala Kootu February 18, 2021February 25, 2021 Padmalatha Ajith Prasad Chow Chow masala Kootu Chow Chow – 1 large ( 1/2kg ) Cooked turdal – 2 tbsp Tomato – 1 finely chopped Turmeric powder- 1/2tsp Crystal salt – as required To Roast and Grind: Red Chilly – 1 Block pepper – 1 tsp. Jeera – 1/2tsp Uraddal – 2 tsp. Solid hing – 1 bigpinch Garlic pods – 3 Shallots -3 Coconut pieces -3( big) Seasoning: Mustard seeds – 1/2tsp Jeera – 1/2tsp Uraddal – 1 tsp. Method: Peel the skin of chow- chow and finely chopped. Add turmeric powder, salt& steam cook for 10 minutes. Heat kadai, add the cooked vegetable, chopped tomato, cooked tuvardal and add the coconut paste as given in “ To Roast and Grind”. Mix it well, add little water, allow it to boil for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes the gravy thicken. Season with Mustard Seeds, Jeera and uraddal. Add the seasoning to the gravy and serve Hot with White Rice.
