SPECIAL BONDA – SNACK
Ingredients
Raw rice – 1 cup (250 grams)
Channa dal – 2 tsp
Whole urad dal – 1
Red chilly – 4
Ginger – ½ inch
Small onion/ Shallots – 10 or Big onion – 2 medium size
Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
Coriander leaves – As per taste preference
Salt – As required
Oil – For deep frying
Procedure:
· Soak the raw rice, channa dal, urad dal and red chillies for 20 minutes.
· Strain the water completely.
· Add ginger to the soaked contents and grind using a mixer grinder into a coarse paste.
· You can use little amount of water while grinding.
· Transfer the batter to a bowl, add finely chopped onions, curryleaves ,coriander leaves and salt. Mix well.
· Heat oil in a kadai for deep frying.
Keep the oil in medium flame and drop the bonda batter one by one by pinching off into desired sizes.
· Allow to cook till golden brown and the sizzling of oil fades away.
· Remove the bonda on to plate.
· Enjoy this crispy and fluffy evening snack with hot tea.
NOTE:
1. You can also add finely chopped cabbage, finely chopped mint leaves or spinach to the bonda
batter for enhance taste.
2. Shallots taste best in these bonda than big onions.
